Transportation - Greenwich to London

We would like to get transportation when our cruise ship disembarks in Greenwich to a hotel in London near Victoria Station. What is the most cost effective way to do this? We don’t want to take the subway/Tube.

The taxi service the cruise line is offering is expensive ($300 per person). Can we do it cheaper? I posted this to Cruise Critic and they recommended Smith’s for Airports but they are booked. Any other ideas? Thanks!

I checked the Thames Ferry and it looks like you can take luggage. Are you packing light or do you have tons of bags? If you brought lots of luggage, as cruisers are wont to do, find a private taxi. If you are smart (only have two bags each), you could take the ferry. It's a great way to see the city. You could get off at Westminster and then take a cab to your hotel.

Can you be more precise about where in Greenwich your boat is docking? Greenwich is a large London borough which includes a lot of territory as well as the tourist sights around the Maritime Museum and Observatory. I can't imagine anywhere in Greenwich that does not have access to a station or bus stop within a short walk; assuming you can carry your luggage.
Even a "black cab" (taxi hired from a rank) cannot be more than £40, and that is for up to 4 passengers with luggage.

Hi, the itinerary says Greenwich but Cruise Mapper shows the ship landing in London Tilbury. There are 2 of us, 2 RS 20” roll aboards, and 2 carryons. I was just hoping to get an idea if $600 was crazy or not.

It should not cost anywhere near what they are asking. You can take a flight back to the US for that money! Any of the taxi company suggestions posted here would be a better choice.

Thanks for all your help! We talked to the guest services people today and they said there will be taxis waiting at the pier. Fingers crossed!

I found some stuff about Enderby Wharf. Various news articles say there is opposition, and the website ( http://www.londoncitycruiseport.co.uk/ ) implies it does not yet exist.
"London City Cruise Port is the ambitious project to create the first dedicated cruise terminal in central London, . . . . Passengers will disembark". The "central London" description is rubbish.

This website lists a number of possible cruise docking sites in the Thames: https://www.pla.co.uk/Port-Trade/Cruise-Terminals
You need to find out definatively where your boat is docking.
If it is Tilbury, that is outside London. A taxi from a taxi rank into central London will be expensive (over £120) and take 1½ hours or more (see here: https://www.worldtaximeter.com/london/Victoria+Station/tilbury+cruise+terminal ). Still under your USD 600 quote!
A cheaper option is to take the taxi to Tilbury station, and train from there to central London (Fenchurch Street station)

Just wanted to close the loop on this transportation question. The cruise ship docked in Greenwich near the Cutty Sark. We took the MBNA Thames Clipper boat from Greenwich to the Milbank stop in London. The cost was 20 pounds for the two of us and took about 30 minutes. It worked out very well.
