Cheapest - Stagecoach bus S3 or S7 (alternates between the two)- takes you to Oxford Railway Station and Oxford City Centre every 15 minutes
S3- https://tiscon-maps-stagecoachbus.s3.amazonaws.com/Timetables/Oxford_Timetables/S3_current.pdf
S7- https://tiscon-maps-stagecoachbus.s3.amazonaws.com/Timetables/Oxford_Timetables/S7_current.pdf

Pay on the bus,

then the Oxford Tube bus to London Victoria- https://www.oxfordtube.com/?accept=perm every 10 minutes.

You don't need to book ahead for the Oxford Tube- that is optional.

Buy a 'Tube Connector' ticket on the bus from Woodstock, and the Woodstock to Oxford bus is free- through fare £13.

Then Victoria Line from London Victoria to Kings Cross St Pancras.

More expensive and currently not much faster (see https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/england/oxford-to-didcot-railway-line-closed) is the train to London Paddington then tube to Kings Cross St Pancras. Tube from Marylebone (the current train diversion route) to Kings Cross St Pancras is more awkward.
If you take the train route the LNER website is the best to use for North Americans
