A question for the experts out there. . .
We are arriving at Heathrow on Wednesday at about 11:30 a.m. I have booked passage on Heathrow Express to Paddington Station for my 2 teen children and I (they ride for free). We are renting a flat in Borough Base (Southwark -SE1 ODQ) and have arranged to be let in at 2:00 p.m.
I have a few things to take care of in Heathrow before we head into town (such as buy Oyster Cards and visit an ATM). I am estimating we will leave Heathrow by 1:00 p.m. and be at Paddington by 1:30 p.m.
So, the question is - how should we travel from Paddington Station to our flat so that we do not arrive too soon? I would like to take the bus so that we avoid long flights of stairs in the tube and see a bit of the city. Is it appropriate/realistic for us to board a city bus with carry-ons in tow? (We have no checked luggage, but do have two rolling carry-on bags, a large carry-on back pack, and our personal bags).
I am not opposed to taking a cab from Paddington to the flat if we would be rude to ride the bus with all of our luggage. I was guessing they might not be too crowded at that time of day?
I would appreciate the thoughts of the experts on my time estimates and travel plans.
