Transportation from LHR to Waterloo Station

I assume taking the Heathrow Express to the Waterloo Station is the most efficient way to go. However, is the Tube from Tottenham Court Road a subway? I remember doing this run once before and there were two sets of very steep steps to get to the track. Coming from the States with two rolling suitcases makes it impossible for me to negotiate the steps. Am I better off arranging for a car to take me from LHR to Waterloo? Thank you for your help!

A step-free route from Heathrow to Waterloo is taking the Elizabeth line to Bond Street, then switching to the Jubilee line southbound. Both stations offer lifts from street to platform.

There is a step free tube map on the TfL website.

You can pay for the journey using contactless cards or devices.

I don’t think the Heathrow Express goes to Waterloo. It goes to Paddington.

Thank you, Trelawney and Margie for your responses.

It looks like I will try the Elizabeth Line West/Jubilee Line South to get to my Waterloo Station departure.

Question: What is TfL? 😊

Thanks again for your good help!

Transport for London = TfL

But you will be taking the Elizabeth Line East not West.

Where is your final destination? Taking the Heathrow Express from the airport may not be your best option.

Trelawney gave you the right answer.

Trelawney gave you the right answer.

As usual with London there are lots of possible answers. From the Heathrow Express at Paddington, the Bakerloo line is another possible route.

Does the Heathrow Express include the Piccadilly line? I looked at Google maps because I'm also wanting to end up in this area and it said Piccadilly Cockfosters then Bakerloo to Waterloo. But I have no idea.

The Heathrow Express is just an expensive way of getting from Heathrow to Paddington Station. It has nothing to do with the Underground (Tube).

Yes you can take the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow to Piccadilly Circus and change to the Bakerloo Line Southbound to Waterloo but this will not be step free.

Use CityMapper or the TfL maps or app.

Bakerloo from Paddington to Waterloo is not step free. It is at Paddington but not beyond Oxford Circus. Bakerloo is not step free at Waterloo.

As suggested above, Elizabeth Line to Bond Street, then Jubilee to Waterloo.

If you book it ahead it is cheaper than the Elizabeth Line, even with a tube add on.

Stuart, the point being that the OP is requesting a step free route. Therefore there are not lots of possible answers.
