Transportation from Heathrow to St Katherines'Way (Tower Hotel)

We have received conflicting information regarding how we should travel from Heathrow to our hotel. We arrive at 7AM on Thursday, May 17th. People have said a taxi is most convenient, but is very costly and can take very long due to traffic. Others have said the train is good but the changes can be confusing.

Please let me know what you would recommend.
Thank you
Helene

I stayed in that hotel in 1998 - back when it was a Thistle property. From Heathrow, you have a choice between convenience and economy. I would ask the current hotel management for their suggestion for a car service.

We have 1 suitcase each. Stairs are not a problem.

I have e-mailed the concierge but have not received a reply.

If it was me I'd take the Tube from Heathrow to Hammersmith, change trains onto an eastbound District line train and that takes you all the way to Tower Hill. It's a short walk from Tower Hill to your hotel.

Bear in mind it will be rush hour so it will be busy.

Just to add on to what Ramblin on wrote......

Changing at Hammersmith is easy because you just walk to the other side of the platform for the change. Less than 20 feet.

It is about a ten minute walk from the Tower Hill tube station to your hotel.

Your other option would be to hire a car service to take you door to door. It will be costly but less than a taxi.

The other thing to note is, that as well as being a lot cheaper than a car service or taxi (£5.60pp), the tube will almost certainly be a lot quicker - just over an hour.

If you only have one small bag each I'd use the tube. Unless you are or expect to be zombies.

If you arrive at 7 and it takes you an hour to get out of the airport you will arriving at around 9 or so into the centre of London so hopefully after much of the peak travel time. And Thursday is now the new Friday in London.

Adding to ramblin on’s advice it’s the Piccadilly Line to Cockfosters that you want to use. It will go to Hammersmith where you will exit, walk across the platform and then board a District Line train to Tower Hill.

Once you exit the Tower Hill Station look to your left. Hopefully tree foliage won’t block your glimpse of the Tower of London. Cross at the light, walk pass the Tower of London, it will be on your right. Head towards Tower Bridge. Use Google Maps on your phone and follow St Katherine’s Way to your hotel.
