Hello
We will be on a cruise which docks at the greenwich port and are planning on going to Bath when we disembark.
Does anyone have info if there is public transportation available from Greenwich to Bath?
Many thanks
If you Google Greenwich to Bath you’ll see there are a variety of public transport travel options. Each taking about 2 hours.
Of course. Do you know which pier you will be at? If from the Greenwich Ship Tier, likely you would take the DLR or Thameslink, then the Elizabeth line to Paddington. Then a train to Bath Spa. The tfl.gov Plan a Journey website can give you the best travel options to Padding Station , depending on time of day.
Greenwich PORT ??? You may need to lower your expectations.....
The Ship Tier is a pontoon/ floating terminal in the river, you transfer by tender to a tidal pier to get to land And then you begin to wonder how it got permission to operate because it's less than optimum for getting passengers away from the cruise.
Start at the obvious, hail a cab. Not at the pier you won't. it's a pedestrian area so you may need to walk 200yards to a busy road. Expect to pay £55 to Paddington station and a good hour to do it.. You could try prebooking one of the transfer services or Uber and let them decide where to do the pick up.
DLR from the slightly closer Cutty Sark station? Sorry it's closed until spring 2026!
DLR or Thameslink train from the older Greenwich station? That's just over half a mile away.
So I'll suggest the public transport connection with least walking. You may as well do it with some style especially if taking videos of the trip. From Greenwich Pier don't walk - get back on the water! Take the Thames Clipper river bus to Westminster Pier, passing Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Tate Modern and London Eye before getting off just below the Elizabeth Tower of the Houses of Parliament. Then a quick transfer via the passage under the road to Westminster station and the Circle Line Underground to Paddington. Yes it will cost more than the DLR/Thameslink option and it will take as long as a taxi (but nowhere near as expensive). https://www.thamesclippers.com/
