We are going on the RS tour that starts in Bath. We will arrive a week early and plan to stay in London for 5-6 days. Thought of going to Windsor for a night then on to Bath. Is there reasonable train or bus service from Windsor to Bath or will we have to return to London? If we have to return to London, will probably book a day trip an continue the stay in London.

You can take the train without returning to London but you will have some transfers (e.g., Windsor to Slough, Slough to Reading, Reading to Bath). You can check on the National Rail site to get an idea of the options.
Are you flying into Heathrow? If you want to stay overnight in Windsor, it might make more sense to go there directly from the airport as it is only about a 20 minute cab ride from the airport.

Laura, thank you. I was afraid of that. We have 8 days before our tour. We will spend 6 in London initially. Looks like it will be easier to go to Windsor as a day trip than to drag luggage from Windsor to Bath.

I would do exactly that…do Windsor as a day trip on one of your London days!
Are you planning an extra night in Bath before the tour? I find lots to do there that won’t be covered on your tour.
