Transport from London to Highclere and Bath

Hi. My wife and I will be in London for a few days before we start a RS BOE tour. The tour begins in Bath late on Sunday. We are planning to visit Highclere on our way from London to Bath. I’m interested in the options by train. We would need a train to somewhere near Highclere and, from there, on to Bath.

I’m also wondering if it’s easier and quicker to just hire a driver for the day. Any recommendations on a transport service that would get from London to Highclere and then to Bath?

I took the train from London a few years ago. I don't recall the name of rhe station at the moment, but we took a taxi from there to the castle and back--it was quite easy.
