Transport for London closures

Now that Britain is opening to those of us who wave the stars and stripes, I'm posting to make people aware of many closings on the tube/buses/overground in London.

Before getting to London, you might want to check this website for any planned closings on the day you arrive or later. Or, you can subscribe to a weekly email that tells you about the upcoming planned closures:

https://tfl.gov.uk/tube-dlr-overground/status/

A general strike on the underground has been called for Noon-Noon of Aug 3-4 and Aug 5-6.

The Piccadilly line will not stop at South Kensington station until next spring.

From Aug 4-12, Embankment will be closed. The District line from Earls Court to Aldgate East will not run as well as the Circle line on that part of the journey. That means no trains will stop at many of the stations on that route including South Kensington.

Of course, it's the same week the UK is opening up

Thank you, Frank.

LOL, Cyn!

For anyone going to London, pick up a city bus map from the racks of brochures at a tube station or the Tourist Information Centre across the street from St. Paul's. Or print this: https://content.tfl.gov.uk/key-bus-routes-map.pdf

Or travel along the river by Thames Clipper, then walk several blocks to your destination(s).

Tap in with your Oyster card when you get on. Tap out with Oyster when you get off the boat.

You can also get a London bus map from the New thing called the internet.

Either from the TFL website or an app.

I used the Citymapper app for London last time I was there. It worked great for walking, tube and buses. I didn't take the Clipper, so not sure about that.

I forgot about Citymapper--I've been away from London a long time. It's an excellent help to getting around.
