We will be flying into Heathrow Airport and will not be renting a car, so we need to book a transfer to Southampton, where we will be leaving for our cruise. What do you suggest we do?

West Quay Cars https://westquaycars.com, based in Southampton undertake a lot of airport transfers to the city. There are other firms, a simple Google search will return many options.
Alternatively take the National Express coach or the train.
A car service would be the easiest but the most expensive.

West Quay taxis worked for us. When you calculate the bus or train fares for two (?) of you plus the taxi from the train or bus station to the cruise terminal, it won't seem so expensive to use West Quay. Plus it is soooooo nice to be met by a driver!

I just used National Express bus, but had manageable luggage...and just me. It would really cost under 50 pounds for a private car? Taxi is 5 and bus was around 20 pre-purchase including ability to shift bus times or next bus if plane is late. What is a pain is finding the proper bus area if you don't know the airport. It is a bit of a trek and elevators.
