Duplicate question. I answered the other one.
Thank you!
Don't use the trainline, they are a 3rd party reseller, use the nationalrail.co.uk site, that will redirect you to the train operating company when you want to buy tickets.
Also try www.loco2.com for international trains.
I like Trainline in some situations, like when going between France and Italy. Even within Italy it can be useful as they depict both Trenitalia and ItaloTreno and show you all of the discounted fares as well. Also very easy to use!
The Man in Seat 61 recommends both Loco2 and Trainline, and who knows better? www.seat61.com
I've used Trainline.eu to travel in Spain. It's easier to use than the Spanish rail site and any price difference is negligible.
I always try to use the rail company's website after following and researching RS guidebook to navigate through the maze. For my upcoming travel, even following RS guidebook advice I couldn´t book a TGV train from Paris to Switzerland. Then I use trainline and it was easy and I paid the same SCNF price. We will see in June if there are any trouble with the eticket, but it looks a legit SCNF ticket with the logo and all.
