A friend and I will be finishing up a coastal walk in Tintagel in August. We will need to get back to London Victoria station by train. It looks like the nearest train station to Tintagel is at Bodmin Pkwy. A cab or bus is required to get from Tintagel to Bodmin Pkwy. Has anyone done this recently and know if bus tickets should be purchased in advance or cab reservations? Thanks for any input.
First thing to note is that trains from Bodmin Parkway go to Paddington not Victoria so you will need the tube or other transport from Paddington to Victoria.
The transportforCornwall.co.uk site will give you bus routes from Tintagel to Bodmin Parkway.
Not recently, but we did use a taxi service to get from the Bodmin Parkway station to Port Isaac and back. I did book in advance and the driver was there to meet our train. We asked him to return and pick us up 2 days later and worked well.
I see two companies listed, with online booking possible. I think we used Parnell’s but I am not certain.

There may well be a bus from Tntagel but I am not familiar with those—-we wanted to go to Tintagel to hike but the bus service was not running on Sundays, so we hiked closer to Port Isaac.
Note that the trains from Bodwin Parkway will end at Paddington, so you will have to transfer from there to Victoria Station by tube or taxi.
You can do this by bus and you don’t need to book tickets in advance. Pay on the bus.
Catch service 95 from Tintagel to Wadebridge. Be warned, this isn’t a very regular service...
Change onto Service 10 at Wadebridge for Bodmin Parkway Station.

If you wanted a taxi, you would need to book this in advance.
Jais Private Hire are based in Tintagel

The other one is Avida Taxis based in Camelford but the web site says they cover the Tintagel area.
The other alternative would be to book a taxi based in Bodmin. If you do a google search there are several different companies listed to choose from.
I checked the GoCornwall bus for buses on tomorrow’s schedule.

Looks like the journey from Tintagel to Bodmiin Parkway station takes nearly 2 hours (1h 40 min is the shortest) and involves one or two changes.
Then the train to Paddington takes 4 hours (3:58 or so) for the direct service. I’d opt for the taxi even if it is a bit of a splurge.
You will save money on the train if you buy Advance tickets well ahead. I just checked prices from Bodmiin Parkway to Paddington. Bought now for tomorrow, the Off Peak fare is 71.50 GBP. The price drops to 53 pounds if bought now for June 8, and to 44 pounds for late June, 7 weeks from now. Note that these Advance tickets are limited to the specific train you purchase, so you want to leave ample time to get to the station from Tintagel so you don’t miss it.
I start with the National Rail website when buying tix for UK travel:
Eastern Airways have direct flights from Newquay (Cornwall) to London Gatwick on Saturdays & Sundays in August. .https://www.easternairways.com
