I was in London in May and loved the underground. Tap in and out, it was great. The only other train I took was to Glasgow and I prebooked that thru Avanti. Im planning to go back in March. I will be visiting London and Brighton. My question is- do I need to prebook the train, do I tap in in London and out in Brighton, or is there a ticket that I need to get just whenever im ready to go? Thanks
No, you can't tap in, tap off South of Gatwick.
Southern and Gatwick Express run to Victoria.
Thameslink run to Bedford and Cambridge via London Bridge, Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon and St Pancras International.
You can turn up and buy a ticket but it will cost you £34 on Southern/G Ex or £32/£23 Peak/Off Peak on Thameslink, each way.
Day return £43/£38 , a bit more period return.
If you book a specific train on an Advance ticket ahead of time it is as little as £8 each way.
If you had a railcard last time reuse that, and it will be just over £5.
With your train ticket buy a Plusbus ticket for unlimited use of the buses that day as far as Shoreham and Seaford for £4.90 or £3.25 railcard.
