Train Ticket Discount

Hello. So I have been sucked into taking our family to the Harry Potter studio tour when we are in London this June. We are 4 adults. I see there is a Groupsave discount. If I am reading the fine print correctly, If we take a London Midland train to Watford Junction we qualify?

That's overwhelming enthusiasm if I ever heard it.

All 4 people need to be together buying the tickets, and passing through the ticket barrier, and on the train, and passing through the ticket barrier at the other end. And on the return trip.

Individual Groupsave tickets are not valid on their own. It must a group traveling together of at least 3.

Harry Potter studio tour is not so bad as long as you're with a group of people who actually like HP! I wasn't particularly enthused about going, but the group I was with were die hard HP fans.

Nigel - Yes we will all be together, so when at the ticket kiosk, do I specify that we want a Groupsave ticket? And, I am very enthusiastic about seeing Harry Potter Studios.

Tim - We are big Harry Potter fans. We have all the books and have read them several times. We have seen all the Harry Potter movies on their opening day. We have all the Harry Potter DVDs and have seen them several times. As a matter of fact, when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 first came out my wife and I were celebrating our 24th anniversary in Hollywood Florida and we made it a point to go and see the movie. My wife and I have been to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando.

Not sure if you have booked your tour time but the groupsave prices are about 40% lower during super off peak times. So you could match lower train fares to tour times/days that work with them. The tour price is always the same.

Also, there's no problem buying your rail ticket online since you will be locked to traveling a specific day once you buy a tour time. Saves waiting in line, just print the tickets out at a kiosk. Also saves the slight risk of potential credit card drama.

There's a 50% chance no one will check your ticket.

emma, just FYI - the current barriers at Euston are 8-11, where the majority of trains calling at Watford junction originate and terminate, and new barriers are going in at 1-3 as well.

My limited British train experience is that for barriers like this

The crowd surges against them so they stay propped open, and then staff randomly pick out people surging through for a ticket check. I have also seen the handicapped gate propped open with no one checking. Maybe this is not typical.

Maybe this is not typical.

Nope. Not anywhere I work or visit.

BTW: I wasn't advocating not paying.

The Blackfriars station south bank entry I think was propped open all weekend. Also at Luton Pwy and Gatwick airports, although this is people with baggage going through the handicapped gate.
