Train status history

Is there anyway to check on the operation of a train in the UK for the past few days?

I am planning to take a train from Manchester to Edinburgh. A few months ago, the same train (same departure time) was canceled on me two minutes before departure. (Love you TPE).Yesterday, when I arrived back in Manchester--at Manchester Piccadilly--I glanced at the departure board and saw the same train was canceled again. I now wonder if this is a pattern and I should take a different train. Or even fly as I am going beyond Edinburgh.

So, all our UK train experts, any ideas on where I can find this information. (Understanding full well things happen at the last minute but if there seems to be a history of problems I'll make different plans.)

TPE. - there is strike action by the RMT union on all Sundays in May plus the Saturday of the June bank holiday weekend, so avoid travelling then plus Saturday evenings and Monday mornings as trains maybe out of place.

What a wealth of resources offered by Ramblin' on! Wow!

Given the mess I’ve seen repeatedly reported out of Manchester airport this spring, I hope to high heaven your train will run!!

Another cause of train delays and cancellations is fatalities on the railways.

Unforeseen delays occur, and sometimes you have to take a deep breath, take it in your stride and be thankful that you will get there eventually. Others will not be going home.
