Heading to a wedding in Poole the first week of September. The international arrival time is not suficeint for the Megabus service from Heathrow. Suggestions for the most direct service train service as I am carrying my own bags would be greatly appreciated.
You need a fast Poole or Weymouth bound train from London Waterloo- tube or Elizabeth Line/tube from Heathrow to Waterloo then the half hourly train at xx05 and xx.35, journey time just over 2 hours.
It may be that the faster way is to catch the Rail Air Guildford bound coach as far as Woking and change into the xx35 from Waterloo, which calls at Woking at the top of each hour.
At Heathrow it leaves from both the T2/3 Central Bus Station and from T5.
At Woking it is a 35 minute wait between coach and train, so you would need to work out which is the faster.
National Express also run a reasonably frequent service #205 from all terminals. If the timings work for your circumstances that is not too much slower than tube etc into London then train London to Poole.
Many thanks for your detailed intel. Was informed yesterday the final destination is actually Bournemouth :(
If it's not to much of an imposition, would you be able to share those directions & consider yourself up for sainthood.
Haha,
That's just what we are here for.
Bournemouth is 3 stops before Poole, coming from London. Doubtless you could catch a Bournemouth terminating train (which from memory are the slow stopping trains) but you would then have to change for Poole at Bournemouth.
