In late spring or late summer Ill be glying yo London and want to take a train or bus directly from the airport to Chester , hoping not to have tp take the tube into London to connect.
If you don’t want to take the Tube to Euston, then a train to Chester, your other options are:
Fly to Manchester then train to Chester or
Take a National Express coach from Heathrow – one per day goes to Chester, others go to Manchester or Birmingham, from where you could continue onward by train.
Or skip Heathrow and fly direct to Manchester, then train from Manchester airport to Chester.
If you want to go to Chester, Heathrow is the wrong airport, it only has rail connections into London. Manchester airport has rail links to most of Northern England.
Taking the train via London is by far the easiest option.
I tried a dummy booking on National Express and couldn’t see any direct services - all involve a change of vehicle in Birmingham and the journey is 6.5 to 10.5 hours. Personally, I would not want to sit on a bus for this long after a long flight.
there's a direct coach that departs LHR at 00:10, arrives Chester at 05:20 🚌😮
Last summer my wife and I and two other couples flew into Manchester and took the train to Chester. There is a rail station right at the Manchester airport. Our planes arrived from the US in the morning. We were in Chester in time for lunch.
We stayed at the Queen which is directly across the street from the railway station.
