Train from London to The Cotswold

We will be arriving into London from Paris via the Eurostar. What is the best way to get out to Morton-in-Marsh? Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Cindy

You can get a train to the Cotswolds from Paddington rail station. I'm not sure where the Eurostar leaves from/arrives to, but you should be able to take the Tube easily to Paddington and then catch the train.

tube from St Pancras to Paddington

book you train ticket to Moreton here

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

(if you haven't booked your eurostar tickets yet use the UK version of the Eurostar site and you can book a ticket all the way from Paris to Moreton).

I don't believe that the Eurostar goes straight to Moreton-in-Marsh from Paris, You may be able buy a ticke, but you will either have to change from St. Pancras to Paddington Station, either by the tube or bus. IMO, it would be easier to take taxi to Paddington Station to get the train to Moreton-in-Marsh.

If you do go by Underground, make sure you take a Hammersmith train rather than a Circle one from St Pancras for Paddington. Otherwise you will need to change at Edgware Road AND have two staircases to negotiate. The Hammersmith trains arrive at the back of Paddington station but have lifts.

Thank you for all the great information! I haven't booked my train tickets yet, so I will get on the U.K. Eurostar website and book all the way through.

I just checked and I can't book with Eurostar all the way through to Moreton-in-Marsh.

The Eurostar arrives in St Pancras International Station. Hammersmith and City tube to Paddington.

If you require step free, take a cab to Paddington.

Paddington to Moreton in Marsh by train.

hmmm…

you can book Paris to Oxford but not Moreton. The advantage of doing that is you have a protected connection if the Eurostar is late. Oh well.

It is possible to buy tickets under CIV terms from Paris to MIM - maybe not from the Eurostar website but it is possible from other sellers.

Looks like trains run hourly from Oxford to Morton-in-Marsh. You'd need to get from St Pancras to Marylebone or Paddington. Doable on the Underground, but a taxi makes more sense to me if you're carrying more than a single light piece of hand luggage. Allow enough time for either method.

(Whoops: Pay attention to Nigel re: Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh, not me.)

My wife and I traveled from London to Moreton-in-Marsh last summer. You will need to take the Underground from St. Pancras to Paddington and from there catch the train to M-I-M. It's an hour and a half trip, if I recall, with a variety of stops, including Oxford. The station in M-I-M is a few blocks from the High Street. Have a beer for us outside at the Bell Inn.

Thanks Brian! Will do!

What town do you recommend staying in? I know M-I-M is the only town that you can get to by train, but it sounds like Chipping Camden or Stow in the Wold might be better. Any advice would be great!

Thanks!

Bourbon-on-the-Water, Broadway, Chipping Campden or Stow-on-the-Wold would all make a great base.

I think that's Bourton on the Water, not bourbon. But the bourbon on the water sounds good to me. :)
