We are visiting the Lakes District staying in Keswick. We are trying to get from Keswick to London on July 20 so we can fly back to the US on the 21st. When we try to book on thetrainline.com (from Penwith) it says "tickets coming soon", but dates before and after that have tickets available already. Are the ones we need already sold out, or will they become available later. It seems we can't book any weekend dates. Do they not release the weekends as soon? Not sure if we need to change our travel plans. Anyone have any better insight on how this works?
Weekends tend to be released at shorter notice (6 to 8 weeks, sometimes much less). In this case tickets are due to be released on 29 May (2 days time) but they are usually released mid to late afternoon UK time.
That due date also often slides by a day, so it may be late afternoon Thursday UK time before tickets are released.
The timetable is available for that day, and there is no booked engineering work so it is train as normal to Euston.
Trains cannot sell out in the UK so that is never an issue.
Thank you for the quick reply. Very helpful!
@michellekrogers- Times and Advance Tickets have now been released for 20 July Penrith to London. The best fares are in the early afternoon
Book with the train company and you won't pay Trainline's booking fee.
