Train from Heathrow to Paddington station

Hello,
We will be arriving by plane to London Heathrow on a Saturday in June (4 pm) and planning to take a train to Paddington station near where we will be staying. Should I go ahead and purchase tickets in advance for both this and our return to Heathrow, or can we purchase when we arrive? Are cost savings significant for buying these in advance, as for trains throughout the country? I'm only hesitant as there is always the concern of a flight delay and potential for missing a train. Also, how much time would you allow between landing and getting to the train for reservation time?

The discounted tickets bought in advance are valid for the Heathrow Express for any train on the day, not for a specific one. It would have been £5.50 had you bought it 90 days in advance. More than 30 days in advance is £8.80. Rises to £12.10 if 14 days.

More clarity. There are two trains to Paddington. Heathrow Connect and Heathrow Express.

Book NOW for cost savings. Express is the quickest arriving at Paddington Station in 15 minutes. Connect is about 25 minutes with a few stops.

I always use the Express as I stay near Paddington on each trip. I book round trip ticket 60 days in advance. Print out the ticket(s) and take with me. Ticket is good for any train on arrival and departure dates.

Happy travels.

Lucky you arriving on a Saturday. The savings for purchase 30+ days in advance are significant. Marco gave you the price if you purchase online now. Full price if you wait is around £22-£25 .

Don't be tempted by the Connect train as it's frequency and speed makes it a poor bargain these days imo against the advance tickets on the Express. (If final destination is not around Paddington other things come into play).

As you mention that you are not alone, there are other options such as the DUOSAVER code, but that is on return journeys only. Especially good here if the return was a weekday.
