My husband and I will be traveling by train from Stratford-upon-Avon to London on Thursday, June 11. On the National Rail site, I'm seeing a "lowest fare" rate of 6 GBP, compared to 50 GBP for other departures. It may be obvious that we should grab these, however, we haven't firmed up the time we will leave Stratford-upon-Avon so I'm wondering if there are always low-fare options or if those will go away as we get closer to June.
£6 is the cheapest possible advance fare sold by Chiltern Railways. It will be valid only on the booked train. There will be a certain number of these available; once they have all gone it will move up one price point to £9 then £12 etc. The most expensive advance is £50.
There are another set of advance fares valid on Virgin services.
I'd grab that up immediately before they sell out then firm my plans around that time. It won't get any cheaper. Prices will rise as you get closer to the date.
