Yesterday a Southern train near Lewes in Sussex (near Brighton and Eastbourne) derailed sending 3 of the 8 cars onto their side down an embankment. 2 serious injuries, 18 less serious. All lines passing the site still closed until further notice, may be reviewed tonight. Cause not known, heat has not been ruled out.
This afternoon at 14:12 the rear cars of a Greater Anglia train has derailed near Wickford, Essex on the line between London Liverpool Street and Southend Victoria. All cars remained upright. The affected line and the branch line form Wickford are completely closed, until further notice. No major injuries, unknown cause. Heat has not been ruled out.
