Train cost from Paris to London

I have taken the Eurostar previously from Paris to London. We plan to do this again in July with a party of five. As I look for tickets I am amazed at the range of prices for 5 tickets. Anywhere from
$440 to $711. Why is this, and how do I know I am getting the best price.

Prices are different depending on the time of day of the train. As well, there are 3 classes, which I am sure you noticed. Are you using the official website, eurostar.com?

If you are on the Eurostar website, you're getting the best price. They are priced like airline tickets. They start selling 6 months in advance, so with 3 months to go, all the super cheap tickets appear to be sold out. They also know that July will be busy, so they reduce the number of cheap tickets on offer. The goal: maximize profits by filling the train with people who have found the price acceptable.

The price for a Standard class ticket ranges from about $60-200 per person, with limited seat availability at lower price points, and some seats allocated for age-based discounts. Book the cheapest fare that's offered to you.

It helps if you

are flexible with your dates

are flexible with time of day

avoid all day Friday, Monday morning, and Sunday afternoon and evening because these are time that weekly commuters and holiday makers are most likely to need seats

realise that Standard is the equivalent of 2nd class (but still much bigger than business class flying), and that Standard Premier is the equivalent of first class light.
