Train Connections Through London

I'm traveling from York to Bath with connections in London. There is approximately 40 to 50 minutes from the first train arriving at Kings Cross and the connecting train leaving Paddington. Is there enough time to get from one station to the other recognizing that the train and underground stations logistics will be a new experience.

That should be enough. But if it was my trip I'd look at connections via Birmingham and Bristol instead to avoid the tube trip.

GWR and LNER have nicer trains than Cross Country in my opinion, but in this case not having to change in London would be worth it to me.

I'd agree that Cross Country is more direct.

Luggage?

Time of day? Day of the week?

You can connect the two stations in London by bus, tube, tube & Elizabeth Line, or taxi. Most efficient will depend on your answers....

And if you travel on the 1042 from York to Bristol (change for Bath, a 1501) Cross Country is only about £10 more (at £68.70) than routing via London. Which given Cross Country's notoriously high prices is surprisingly good value.
That is as fast, maybe a bit faster, than routing across London.

Plenty of time - 12 minutes by Underground, so allow 20 for the walking either end. You could walk the whole way in an hour.

You could probably make it but when you need the tube, it can be unreliable. (Isn't that the case.) A few weeks ago I waited 20 minutes for a train and then three arrived within one minute of each other.

For convenience, listen to the others who suggest changing elsewhere. I believe in making life as easy as possible while traveling. Less stress.
