Train between Edinburgh and York

Hello,

My husband and I will be traveling from Edinburgh to York in June and I was wondering if would be better to get a train instead of renting a car.
My concern is regarding luggage as we will have 2 medium suit cases plus 2 carry ons.
Which is a good train company between this 2 countries?

Thank you for any help,

Silvia

I'd recommend LNER for the number of services and a train that starts the journey from Edinburgh rather than one from further north so you can get on leisurely at least. Buy an Advance as early as you can like right now; you are possibly already too late for the real cheap ones but ought to be able to find something reasonable especially in the sale just about to end.

Unless you can get a good Advance fare on the Cross Country alternative. Someone must although I never have.

You don't say what day in June
I am seeing Advance Singles from £22.40 on 14th
Suggest you consult www.seat61.com for information on rail travel in UK including how to book tickets from abroad

We are not two countries yet - 2 nations (like states) but not two countries.

If you are concerned about your luggage think if the two of you can manipulate the two medium suitcases (what's medium, and how heavy are they) as well as the 2 carry ons without outside assistance.

Cound you carry them up a flight of stairs. You won't have to if you use the lifts, but there is often a decent step up into the train, and sometimes the station lifts break. There also (I don't remember) may be a couple of steps up into the th station but there will be ramps.

Do either of you have other limitations (this isn't true confessions, but for you to think about).

What will you do when you leave York? Train to London? Get a car? Be met by friends?
