Trafalgar Square question

My friend and I want to go to Trafalgar Square today.

From Lancaster Gate Station what might be the best bus or tube

The 94 bus again.

On the Tube I would do Central line to Oxford Circus then Bakerloo line to Charing Cross, but equally you could stay on one more stop to Tottenham Court Road, then the northern line southbound to Charing Cross.

Coming back I'd be tempted to walk down the hill to Embankment (one stop further on each line) then come back from there.
I like the gardens/park next to the tube station.
From Embankment pier you could do a trip to anywhere you like on the Thames on the Clipper-non landing round trip if you like, or get off somewhere and explore then a later Clipper back.
You can use your Oyster on the clippers, but it's not included in the daily cap.
Tate Modern at Bankside Power Station, Greenwich, Woolwich Royal Dockyard or Borough Market (use London Bridge Pier) are some of the possibles.
Woolwich Dockyard you walk off the boat and you are in the middle of the old Dockyard- a very interesting place and lots of cafes.
Then the Elizabeth Line back to Bond Street, change to Central line, two stops westbound.

Today is Tuesday - Borough Market won't be much today.

I am glad that you and your friend are really exploring that wonderful city.

I was looking at the weather, not the Calendar.

Today is a beautiful day, almost summery. Ideal for Woolwich, or anything outdoors, especially on the river.

It is OK. Some things that we southerners know instinctively, like northerners know about the mountains and northern stuff

It’s a good idea to download (TfL) Transport for London’s app or go to their Journey Planner website. There you can enter you origin and destroy and it’ll tell you the best way to get there and even which bus stops to aim for. You can see maps too and then you won’t be dependent on someone here seeing your question in time to start your day when you want to.

City Mapper App on your phone will eliminate the need to ask everyone else how to get from one place to another in London on public transportation and be much quicker to use. I know that you have been told about it before...........

You can do this independently and confidently. The tools are out there.

I just returned from a trip to London and Amsterdam. The Citymapper app was invaluable in telling us how to get somewhere via tube, bus, by foot, tram, etc. I highly recommend it.

Mary,

Having extremely nice weather

Crowd level is very acceptable. There are crowds but there is also enough space. For me, it is manageable and I hate crowds

I have downloaded the Citymapper app on my iPad. I do not like apps and I did forget about it. I will try it again tomorrow

Not everyone works well with apps or likes them

I loved the National Gallery it is beautiful and huge. Great art work. Comfortable seating in most of the galleries

Nice restaurant. Good food but pricey like everywhere.

Amazing toilets. Each toilet has a full wooden door ,each toilet has its own sink

The entire area is very nice. Comfortable seating outside with Mr Nelson and other statues

Simple…Lancaster Gate tube to Oxford Circle tube, change to Bakerloo Line to Charging Cross tube station 3 minute walk to Trafalgar Square.
