Towns to visit/stay while near The Hawking Centre

HI!
We, a family of 4 (2 teens), will be doing one day at each of the Hawking Centre's locations in August. One is Doddington Place Gardens and the other Eastwell Manor. We are looking to find a town that's worth a visit to stay in within a drive of each of these places. We've never been to this part of England before. Thanks for your help! And if you have specific recommendations on where to stay--please say so! We are not looking for luxury, btw...(spending too much on the falconry!).

All suggestions welcome!
Many thanks in advance!

I was unfamiliar with the Hawking Center, but after checking out the website, I discovered the centers are both located in Kent - They look fantastic and in a lovely part of the country. Perhaps you could look for accommodation around Canterbury. Which would be about 15 miles for both centers. Canterbury is a great place to explore and not to be missed if you are in this part of the country.

You don’t say what your budget is (in £), but many of the villages in that area have B &Bs, many of which will be c£100 a night per room.

Canterbury is further, will be more expensive and parking is an issue, although it’s a nice place.

I would suggest Ashford for value accommodation. It’s not as pretty as Canterbury, but there is an out of town Premier Inn, which offers good value accommodation.

If you want a smaller town, Faversham has an older feel and is home to the country’s oldest brewery that runs tours.

I haven’t been for a couple of years, but lunches were good at nearby Brogdale Collections.
