Tower of London tip

The last time I was at the Tower of London, I followed the traditional advice to arrive right before opening. I stood in line with 100 other people following the same traditional advice. One of the workers told me, “If you just come 15 minutes after opening there is no line and you will walk right in.”

Today, I decided to follow his advice. We arrived at 9:15 (fifteen minutes after opening) and we walked right in.

For London Pass Users I can confirm there is no need to get any ticket in addition to your pass. They scan and in you go.

I noticed something similar! We got there about 8:45 for the 9am opening and there was a bit of a line. We dashed straight for the Crown Jewels and even when we were done at 9:30ish, there wasn’t much line for them. There was a big line by 10am though!

The one thing I would have changed: we had reserved the audioguide in advance. We didn’t pick up the guide first as we were hustling toward the Crown Jewels. But by the time we were done there was a HUGE wait there. So I wished we had taken 5 minutes to grab the equipment right after entering.

I visited about 11am earlier this year. There was no line to get in and no line for the crown jewels around noon.
