Tower of London Tickets, Still Available at Trader's Gate Gift Shop

Hello,
I am planning to visit the Tower of London on a Sunday morning in less than two weeks. I was planning on buying my tickets online, but then I read a tip in Rick Steves' guide to buy a voucher on your way to the Tower at Traders' Gate gift shop. The voucher allows you to bypass the long line, right? I was wondering if anyone has been there recently and bought tickets from this souvenir shop? Google said they were closed but another search made it look like they were open.
Thanks,
Jill

I was at the Tower this morning. No long lines anywhere at 9:30 am. We just walked up, let them search our backpacks, and walked in. Although it did get busier as the day went on, it was never crowded and there was still no line at the entrance when we left. You can buy advance tickets online so why mess with the gift shop voucher thing?

Jill, the HRP website has timed entrance tickets. Carol, did you need timed entrance? https://tickets.hrp.org.uk/hrp_b2c/palace.html

I am buying Historic Royal Palaces membership for myself and my friend. It gives us free entrance to the three palaces we'll be visiting. Joint membership is cheaper than individual tickets and it is good for a year,.

I did not need timed entrance. If you are buying these that way, pick a time near opening time and go to the Crown Jewels first thing. There are so few people then that it is easy to loop back on the people conveyor belt and see both sides.

I am sure that the advice to buy from a gift shop is pre-pandemic. I have never heard of such advice. It is so easy to get online tickets I don't know why you'd want to stop somewhere else that may or may not be there anymore.

one other thing - check carefully. Usually a voucher meaning you need to exchange it for actual tickets at the ticket office, and they are where there are the lines.

Everybody including members and everybody else regardless of ticket has to go through the security line, no exceptions and no skipping that line.

Unless you want your head chopped off :).
