Tower of London tickets must be printed on S4 printer paper

I am in the US and have my Tower of London tickets on my phone. I want a back-up with printed tickets. ToL says printed tickets must be printed on S4 printer paper which I do not have. Has anyone successfully used printed tickets on 8 1/2" by 11" paper instead?

I think you will find that it isn't S4, it is A4.

Your American paper will work fine. It is slightly wider and shorter than ours. Just have a look after it comes off the printer and make sure that all the goodies are there.

Yours won't be the first they have seen on American paper.

If you absolutely feel that you must use the A4, try special ordering it from STAPLES. that’s what I did for my German train tickets, but l think 8 1/2 x 11 will suffice.

Lindy, if for some reason there are parts missing after you print it, just re-print it but this time scale it down a notch. There should be a setting that says "Fit" or "Fit to paper." If not, click the "Scale" option and bump it down to about 95%, which should do the trick.

FWIW, you can find A4 paper at just about any office supply company or on Amazon. I bought a pack at Staples - I sew with German patterns and can't scale them down, but need the extra length so I don't cut anything off. One other option would be to print them on 8.5 x 14" paper, which is easier to come by. The width is not usually an issue - just the length.

Thank you, Stephen and Mardee. Scaling down worked. All the bits and pieces are there as Nigel stated must be.

Hi,
Just to give you comfort. Ryan Air, when we flew them had all sorts of rules about what you could or couldn't do. Best rule of thumb was get in line like cattle and take first stall that is open.

But I digress. They REQUIRED this European sized paper for their tickets. Turns out, they don't want scraps of paper with a blurry image. Yes, your 8 1/2 x 11 sheet will be fine.

this European sized paper for their tickets

  • Pedantry alert

A4 isn't just a European standard, it's international standard and is part of the ISO 216 standard. The US doesn't use this format because of its stubborn refusal to move from archaic imperial measurements.

A former printer writes: A4 size paper dimensions are 297mm x 210mm or in old money, 11 3/4” x 8 1/4”. And always depth before width. That’s not just pedantry - anything else is like fingers nails on a blackboard to us old ex pros! Don’t get me started on SRA sizes (that comes on a need to know basis and, trust me, you don’t need to know!).
