Tower of London opening ceremony

Has anyone found a way to see the opening ceremony for the Tower of London without buying a private tour ticket? I only find reference to the evening ceremony of the keys on the towers web site and nothing about any opening ceremony.

I'm a long time member of the Tower of London and HRP, and I'm sorry I can't help. I've not heard of that being available to the public.

There are Early Access tours - I don't think there is any ceremony involved. They seem to allow you to go in a bit early in a small group with your own Beefeater guide. The only advantage I can see is that the group will be a lot smaller, but at considerable extra cost.

I would stick to the standard advice to turn up about 10 minutes after the opening time, get your ticket and go straight to the Crown Jewels. then come back to the start to join the next Beefeater tour, included in your standard entrance ticket.

Yes, the idea of spending 137 USD per person for a tour compared to the standard entrance fee is not very appealing.

My friend was in London over Christmas. She said that if you get to the start of the Tower of L queue before it opens you'll be able to see the ceremony of the keys by looking in the door while it happens! "I wanna be in the queue where it happens, the queue where it happens...." Ha! :)
