Hi am planning to go to London in October, I am interested in tower bridge tour, I am a bit scared of heights, are there some nervous like aspects of the tour regarding heights? Thanks. Regarding the postal museum, is it really that claustrophobic? I’ve read so much of the postal service especially during wwii, would love to visit, but I’m a bit claustrophobic. Thanks.
OP peruse both websites. Check on YouTube for videos. You should also email each site with your questions.
Will say the Tower Bridge tour encompasses a plexiglass glass walkway which looks straight down.
Can’t comment on the Postal Museum. Haven’t been.
My husband has a fear of heights, but I have no recall of the Tower Bridge and him even batting an eye.
The few plexiglass windows in the floor of the upper walkway of the Tower Bridge look down on the traffic and the pedestrians 110 feet below, and the walkway is 138 feet above the River Thames. But you can pass along the walkway without stopping and looking through the window in the floor. It is very thick and solid, though, and people safely stand on it to peek through it.
The Tower Bridge tour does include a plexiglass floor as others have mentioned, but it's not really that high up, and you can pretty easily walk over it without looking down. I am a bit of a claustrophobic person myself but was absolutely fine with the mail rail ride at the postal museum. If you prefer you can also visit the museum without taking the ride (tho I think the ride is the best part). It's kind of like a mini version of the tube where you can see as you go thru the tunnel.
The Postal Museum has quite a few things to see other than the ride through the former Post Office Railway. There is a video on the website which gives quite a good idea of what the ride is like if you want to check.
