Tottenham to London Metropole hotel .. any historic things or sights to do

That’s a challenge, although I suppose it is technically north. There is very little of visitor interest in the area around the stadium. In any event don’t commit to anything until the actual dates for games have been set. No Tottenham home games have confirmed dates or times for 26/27.

We are Indianapolis Colts NFL fans and they just happen to play while we are in London on vacation October 4th. Hesitant to go, don’t want to spend a whole day. Was hoping to combine with something that could help justify it enough to include on our itinerary.

Sorry, confusion over a common language! The NFL games are I assume fixed times. There’s no reason wh6 you should not go to the game. It won’t take all day but I don’t think you can combine it easily with much else. The stadium is just not in a tourist area of London.

The only thing that immediately springs to mind is Bruce Castle. I've never been in, but I know where it is and it's not far from Spurs' ground.

Like John says, Tottenham's not really got that much to interest the international visitor, unless you're a real urbanist. It's still pretty resolutely working class and there's a vibrant and multicultural high street, Tottenham High Road, but outside of the football there's not that much to see. Same as a lot of London neighbourhoods, if you appreciate vibes and seeing how people live, you might find a visit interesting nonetheless, even if it's just to have lunch and a pint in a characterful local pub.

I agree with what others have said- beyond Bruce Castle there's not a whole lot to visit in Tottenham. Some other things in the area you might like:

-If you like walking/parks, there's Walthamstow Wetlands, and you're not that far from Finsbury Park (you could even walk there along the New River Path)
-You're also not far from Epping Forest, another great place for walking
-Over in adjacent Walthamstow, you also have the William Morris Gallery- if you're interested in William Morris, it's in one of the homes he lived in growing up
-If you like neon signs/art at all, God's Own Junkyard in Walthamstow is fun, and if you like beer it's next door to Pillar Brewery
-There's also the Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum if you like old infrastructure

But if you are looking for more major tourist sites, I would head back into central London after the match. Or you could hang around Hackney- if you're looking for an historical site, Sutton House (Tudor era home) is very good.

The game starts at 2.30, so by the time it finishes and you have got away it will be too late for much sightseeing anyway. There will be time to fit something in in the morning depending on how early you want to get to the game.
