Tomorrow we leave for London!!

Our first time and going with our adult son for a week. He works at an art museum that loaned the National Gallery our only Van Gogh. Tickets were sold out and the curator sent him 3 tickets, how nice was that?

None of us have been. I have dinner reservations for most nights. Reservations for things we need to have, and lots of time with “deciding what thing shall we visit today” worked in with a list of things to do. Shops, neighborhoods, things like that). Taking my RS London book!

Weather looks not bad. We are experiencing a cold front in the Midwest right now. Today will be a high of 33 with lots of snow. So mid 40’s next week no snow in London won’t be so bad. Yesterday it was 11 degrees Fahrenheit here.

Anyway, thanks for all the collective help with my questions! I think I have everything. (Hopefully)

Bon Voyage.

Great city to visit any time.

Been visiting since 1972. London is always changing, always the same.

Spent 6 weeks there last Fall. Never bored and discovered new sites. Best find was the Seven Stars pub and meeting the General.

Hope you are making time for theatre. If Witness for the Prosecution is still on, get tickets and go! Play is set in an actual courtroom. If you go you’ll get to see how lovely Westminster Bridge and the adjacent buildings of Parliament look at night. Perfect time to snap a photo or two.

Enjoy the parks, museums, Thames Path, Regents Canal, street markets and the food options.

Cheers

Wishing you a wonderful time.

I was in London a couple of years back and it is a wonderful, beautiful and interesting city. This forum was very helpful to me as to yourself.

Look forward to your trip report.

Claudia , my 28 year old son has never seen Les Miserables. We saw it about 35 years ago. It’s such an outstanding musical, I think he needs to see it.

Have a great trip. The weather is looking mainly dry and not too cold. It’s just incredibly grey and basically dusk like at all times.

Les Miz is fine first musical.

Believe it’s playing at the Sondheim Theatre which a gorgeous theatre near Chinatown where you should go for some dumplings!

Have a great time!

Have a wonderful time!

We've been to London several times. The last time was when my wife was inducted into the Florence Nightengale Society. The ceremony was held at Westminster Abbey!

I suggest you download the London Underground App to your smartphone. You can enter your destination and it will give you step by step directions.

If you have a chance, visit Selfridges. It's quite an experience!

Claudia, we have tickets with great seats! Our dinner reservations are at Bocca di Lupo.

As far as the weather, I have a knit and faux fur beanie I was going to bring. But I’m thinking it might not be needed. I don’t wear them at home, but then again I’m touring around outside. I have longer hair so my ears are covered. Do you think I can just do without?

Be sure to take a hat. You will drive yourself crazy buying one if you don't have one! It's January !!!

Have a great time.

Take the beanie even if you don’t use it. Covering your head helps you stay warm. It’s Winter. Simple as that.

That sounds lovely- Bocca di Lupo is my favourite restaurant in London- you will have an amazing time! I agree to bring a hat- even though the air isn't super cold it's often overcast and damp which makes you feel colder.
