To Bath from Heathrow on a Sunday

We will be arriving at Heathrow Airport, Terminal 3, in the spring on a Sunday. We will be getting a Britrail pass before we travel and plan to take the train to Bath. Flight lands around 1:00 PM. It’s my understanding that we need to get to Paddington Station to get the train to Bath. How do we go about that and how long does it take to get to Paddington from Heathrow? Thank you!

Have you considered taking a National Express bus right from Heathrow airport? We did this in August and avoided the whole issue of going into London and transporting luggage on and off trains.

Yea absoultely take the National Express bus from Heathrow straight to Bath and avoid the extra hassle of train. My last trip, I arrived on Sunday and took the National Express Bus to Bath no issues. If you are concerned, I would recommend booking bus ticket in advance as I did so it is set in stone.

I agree with the advice the other posters gave, no point in going into London just to turn around and get a train back out to Bath. But, to answer your last question, the Heathrow Express takes about 15 minutes nonstop between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3. If you'll be finishing your trip in London you may want to use it to get to the airport for your flight home.

A walk-up ticket is expensive, but a 90-day advance purchase ticket is much less. That advance ticket is non-refundable, usable only on the specified date, but any time on that date. A pretty good deal when you know what day you'll need to get to the airport, as most travelers do.

Thanks all- I think we’ll take the bus to Bath from Heathrow. ‘Cuts down the number of days we’ll need on our Britrail flexipass and probably saves us $.
