Tipping a Barber in the UK

This question goes out to our British friends.....

When getting a haircut do you tip your barber? If so, what percentage.

I have never tipped barbers. (Indeed my current one gives me a 10% discount off his regular rate as I was one of his first customers when he was starting out and have been with him for years.)

I wouldn't tip a barber- they advertise a price for a haircut and you pay it. It would never even cross my mind to tip a barber.

I've never tipped a barber. They provide a service for a fixed price, why would I then pay extra simply because they did the job I've paid them for at the price they set? I'm not getting a better haircut if I tip (how would they know I would tip anyway) and if my haircut was below par then I wouldn't return.

As it is, the person who cuts my hair is a long time friend who comes to my house to do it. I've never given her a tip and she would likely feel quite uncomfortable if I did.
