Tickets at Lord’s

I am interested in buying tickets to a Middlesex match at the MCC in April. I am signed into my account on both the website and the app and am attempting to purchase tickets. However, nothing comes up when I search the particular match (this match is over four days). I suspect that means all four days are already sold out, but there is no indication of that as in « Sold Out. » I am unfamiliar with the app and website, so if anyone has bought—or not been able to buy—tickets for a match there, I would appreciate any recommendations. I am surprised, but probably should not be, that a late April match would sell out so fast. Thank you.

you say a Middlesex match but if over 4 days (not 5?) it sounds like a Test Match. But you also say April. That's pretty early.

I love going to Lords but I usually go for a cheap 5th day in a Test. Although with the way England are playing at the minute it may only last 2 days.

Is it a county match?

I have never looked at their app. Good luck.

It won’t be sold out.

I just had a look at the website and it’s extremely confusing. So many different types of match and there is no central page with all of the tickets that are available.

I can see the match in April that you are talking about but there doesn’t seem to be any way to buy tickets. I can only assume that sales haven’t opened yet but it seems late for that. I would email them and try to get some answers that way.

You have to buy the tickets via Lords and you don't seem to get to see the inventory until registered.

My guess is they haven't been loaded in yet. There will be no capacity issues getting into a County Championship match. Note that Lords is electronic tickets only but you can opt for a pdf when they become available.

A four day match involving Middlesex must, as Marco says, be a county championship match. There appear to be two scheduled at Lord's in April (one against Glamorgan, the other against Yorkshire). But, I also cannot see how to order tickets. Like Helen & Marco, I suspect they just aren't loaded yet. I'd just wait and keep checking back. The chances of a CC match in April being sold out are zero! For your expectations, be aware the crowds to this type of match in April will be minimal and there is a good chance rain will interrupt some (or all) of the play.

Edit - I had a look at other teams and it it seems 20/February 2024 is the date given for when tickets for CC matches go on general sale. But, even though that was yesterday, it still hasn't happened at some grounds (but has at others). So, if not on sale today at Lord's, they should be very imminently.

Thank you all so much for your answers. I will both contact Lord’s and keeping checking the site. Visiting the MCC and seeing a match is something I’ve wanted to do since 1980, and I may have a chance!

You likely know this already, but just to mention there is an excellent MCC Museum at Lord's. Your County Championship match ticket gives you access for a small extra fee. Lord's also run tours, at a price, including on match-days in April. You might want to consider these activities as well to make the most of your visit (and, given the vagaries of weather, for something to do if there is little cricket happening!). Do check admission rules - I recall someone reporting that the end of the tour leaves you outside the ground and you cannot then get back in. That sounds mad, but if true, obviously don't go on a tour first thing!

For a County Championship game at Lords in April you will just be able to buy on the day. There will be no capacity issues. I doubt the crowd will be more than a few thousand, well below capacity.

The 2 4 day matches in April are county matches v Glamorgan and v Yorkshire.
They won't sell out so don't stress.

Quick follow up question. The tickets to the Middlesex-Yorkshire county championship match 19-22 April are now available on the Lords website. I have previously registered with Lords, but when I go to select and buy tickets all that is available is Ground. The image of the seat location for Ground Admission shows the middle of the pitch, and when I click on any other seating section, I get « Error! This area has no available seats. » Ideally, I would like to purchase tickets in the Stands, not Ground Admission tickets. You all were very helpful before. Perhaps you can explain what Ground Admission is and whether it would be comfortable and enjoyable to watch the match from there. Thanks,

Because attendance will be low, they don't sell by particular area. So you buy a "ground admission ticket" and can chose to sit in any parts which are open - including stands (though not in the middle of the pitch, of course!).

"The Ground" is a term used at many county cricket clubs to describe everything outside the members section.

Marco, thank you! With the kind help of you and Nick I made my purchase earlier today. Cheers!
