Traveling the U.K. Countryside and ending in Edinburgh. We will be coming down from Nairn and headed to Perth. One night each. Then thought of 4 nights, 3 days in Edinburgh but now think we should shorten that by a day? Not sure where else to stay for another night, or add one to another city, e.g. Aberdeen? Thanks!
Been to both. I'd stick to 4 nights in Edinburgh. For me, there was more to see and do there or in the area, including:
We have 3 days booked in Edinburgh and the more I read, the more I wish we were staying longer! There are so many day trips that it's tough to decide what to leave out. We are definitely doing Hairy Coos (already booked) and Rosslyn Chapel. We also want to do at least a one day hop-on, hop-off to see as much as we can in the short time we have.
You might get more answers to this question if you pose it in the Scotland forum.
Then again, maybe people reading the Scotland forum tend to read England as well and will see your question here anyway.
I'd say 3 days in Edinburgh is about right. If you really wanted to explore another destination after Perth, before Edinburgh, you could choose either Stirling or St. Andrews. There is quite a lot to see & do in Edinburgh, though. We planned 1 day to see the Royal Mile starting at the Castle and working our way down to the Palace of Holyrood, but we only made it about halfway, there were so many points of interest to stop and appreciate.
