Three extra days in Great Britain

We are going to Saints game October 1 in London. Will spend 2 days in Bath, 5 in London, 2 in York and then 4 in Edinburgh. Still have 3 days available. Any ideas where to go from Edinburgh for those days?

Edinburgh can easily eat up a full four days with all of its wonderful sights. I would recommend sticking around the couple extra days and taking a day trip to Stirling (Castle and William Wallace Monument) and maybe an escorted day trip into the Highlands.

Are you planning to fly home from London and is it too late to change your Itinerary to fly home from Edinburgh?

I too was going to suggest Glasgow. Or, you could shave a day off Edinburgh and do a very nice trip to the north and back or to the west coast. Or to the Borders. You've lots of options.

Michael, I hope you have your tickets. For whatever reason, the price of tickets to the Saints-Dolphins game is twice the price of the tickets for the other three NFL games this year.

I will be in London at that time and expect to attend the game. Regarding your question, what about Paris or even Belgium?

Thanks for suggestions. We have three days after Edinburgh and fly out of Heathrow. Traveling by train.

Have no suggestion regrading where to travel but will say you will shocked by the amount of enthusiasm for our type of football in London.

Attended a 49ers vs Jacksonville game a few years back when Kap was quarterback.

Was pleasantly surprised how many Brits were wearing American football jerseys ( all teams) They are very knowledgable about the game, much more, I dare say than we are of their " football, " soccer.

The energy inside the packed to the gills Wembley stadium was great fun! Later after a Niner beat down of the Jags enjoyed a few pints with a family from Hastings who were rabid 49er fans. The now retired Patrick Willis being their favorite player. Fun day!

I'm certain there will be some type of NFL promotion happening will occur in Trafalgar Square. It will be jam packed.

Have a great time!

Three suggestions.
*Go to Cambridge, an interesting university town with great pubs and an excellent air museum nearby. This is straight down the East Coast main line, more or less, which you may be traveling by train anyway if you return to London.

*Go to Oxford, a university town with lots of historic buildings, great restaurants and pubs. You could go "punting" on the Thames River--a boat ride. From here you can take a one day tour through the Cotswolds. You can also do a day trip; hop the train to Warwick; see Warwick Castle; hop back on the train; continue on to Stratford-Upon-Avon, have a look around then train back to Oxford.
You can take the bus from Oxford to Heathrow Airport for your flight home. Here's the website for that bus:

*Take the Night Train from Edinburgh to London, an adventure in itself. Spend those remaining days in London. There's always more to see and do in London. You could take a day trip from London to see some castles to the south (Leeds, Dover).

I would suggest adding one day each to Bath, London, and York. Are your two days in Bath, two night stay? Two nights, gives you only one day in Bath. So if you stayed three nights you would have two full days. Bath, London, and York are worth the extra time!

I'd add a day in Bath, stop at Oxford or Camridge on the way from Edinburgh and see Windsor before flight home.

Also second Stirling. Went in 1987. Probably enjoyed it but can't remember. I do remember trying a deep-fried Mars bar in Stirling! That was good. Was so poor, we took a night coach from London to Scotland.
