What’s the question?

Too rich for my blood but If you have the money to spend then go for it. It’s a 5 star hotel.

Close to the Palace and Hyde Park. Easy walk to the Hyde Park Corner Underground Station.

We looked at it as it is part of the IHG group. This includes many less expensive hotels such as Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites and some nicer chains such as Kimpton. Since we travel a lot domestically (road trips) we’ve accumulated a lot of IHG points so we’d consider this hotel if we return to London and have enough points. It’s luxe but not as expensive as some of the other over the top top end hotels there.

A typical American style 5 star business hotel. That costs at least twice what we usually spend in London. But if thats what you want, its a safe bet

More than typical. We stayed there a few years ago. All top notch. Rooms are large, well appointed, with all of the touches you would expect from a hotel at this level. Service level from the doorman to the waiters was exceptional. The breakfast buffet (not included -- 55 pounds extra) was extraordinary. If you want to go a notch or two above first class then this is the place.

It’s a large, expensive, soulless hotel on a busy, noisy dual carriageway. I went there for a conference there several years ago. I wouldn’t want to stay there.

If you go (and I have not been), check the hotel's web site, as there is a Bed and Breakfast special that must not have been available when Frank booked.

While the price for that B&B special is a bit more than the standard room-only rate, it will provide some real savings over the 55lb per-person cost Frank apparently paid.

Looks like a lovely place!

I find it is typically worth calling the hotel directly, as sometimes you can negotiate an even better special (than what may appear on the hotel web site). At the historic, The Beekman in NYC a few years ago, we booked at one price (noticing there were some last-minute specials for the then-current week, but not for the dates I was booking). I asked, and was told to keep an eye on it closer to my stay, and they would kindly offer me any last-minute savings. I did that, and they did, and it was significant!! I also asked a hotel worker for where they would recommend having a great breakfast...where they would have breakfast personally....the bagel place right around the corner....incredible huge breakfast for $7 each and we were out and touring quickly!! We loved the place so much, we returned for an early dinner.

As Jennifer says, the only issue is that Park Lane is now a very busy, almost uncrossable road that is mostly a parade of expensive hotels and luxury car dealerships. Not as quaint as you'd expect.
