Advance notice that the Windermere Car Ferry (the short cut between Bowness and Hill Top/Hawkshead/Coniston) will be out of service for maintenance for an extended period in Spring/early Summer 2024.
All we know at the moment is that work will start between February and May 2024, but such outages tend to be for an extended period, from personal experience.
A side effect is that the #525 Mountain Goat bus from Windermere to Hawkshead via Hill Top, which was not operated in 2023, is unlikely to run in 2024 if this key part of it's route is not running.
Usually a foot passenger launch is run from Bowness Piers in part replacement.
