I had thought I'd find a concentration of Thatched Cottages but a search shows here and there? Anyone found a good group of them in one of the village in the Cotswolds area. Thanks
They aren't as common, and for good reasons. According to Google, the greatest concentration are to be found in Dorset
Not surprised to hear Dorset.
We visited here on the Southern England tour earlier this year and saw lots.

I recall seeing thatched roofs quite frequently all along that tour.
I don't know how many thatched cottages you want to see, but this village is a possibility.
Broad Campden:

I agree with Lo. If you drive from Chipping Campden to Broad Campden and continue through the village you will see a good concentration of Thatched cottages. It's the best I've found in the area. (But I am no expert on the matter)
I don't want to see 100rds of them. But I will take note of where you said in the Cotswolds and look there. We will be touring around in those villages. Thanks so much!
I just looked at that guide and that's a beauty in Broad Camden. Perfect. Appreciate it so much!
Norfolk has hundreds of thatched cottages (and is nicer than the Cotswolds IMO).
There's a fair number near me.
Try Welford on Avon not far from the north Cotswolds.
It has a tall Maypole too.
For anyone with an interest in roofing practices in The Cotswolds , this article will be of interest . Note that this is an overview of Cotswold " Slat " roofs , not to be confused with " Slate " , roofing material which was largely quarried in Wales https://www.chippingcampdenhistory.org.uk/content/history/buildings_and_other_landmarks/traditional_cotswold_roofs
There are lots of thatched cottages near me in Northamptonshire. Many old cottages are roofed in Collyweston Slate - an excellent roofing material, from near to Stamford.
Nigel , This article from The NY Times, a few years ago , about a house on Long Island , which was roofed with Collyweston Slate was very interesting - https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/20/realestate/old-westbury-gardens-slate-from-england.html?unlocked_article_code=aTIST_PgQiDWupzmNeRUYA5_4KeIoUOlkIS6XPM8vrGZ_KvCiYjSmf4LHxL07LAmLjN6JSrN4KaYN6Lfu1eUor03BEYBg_nWZMWNXXg2UQ6eNgr-EOOLdJhj-vRiCrPtk1t1YKoyRcyv2pULxb_8CbR89w9W4Ya7yuLqpJRc40cEdPoFIIhZEs3w0NxkKDRXi2gjQ1P1KwlTxLQkZo7YLX6v-utwDRooWYllbtnEqyheWxN_FesMpUGmhBuPqZZN4HZkqS7NOTibH6eT1HNIVsr3B32o4b4aJTiHify7gnH4SN7oH7QUJ6t7rqan9xaYHii9pK9nGFb7l5kXhFGx_D3aEsBDT82BVdBJ_65j1cQwYzXO&smid=share-url
Ebrington two miles from Chipping Campden have a lot of thatched cottages, Chipping Campden has some, Broad Campden is well known for its profusion of thatched cottages.
This is great info thanks so much. Lo, Do you have any idea where that cottage is that is pictured in that link. It's absolutely gorgeous! Or anyone else. Take a look That's what I'm looking for.
which link, Shelley?
Sorry, Shelley. No clue.
But Broad Campden is described as being quite small, so I'd guess any of the thatched cottages there would be hard to miss.
Nigel, the link is to info on Broad Campden in an up thread post from me.
Broad Campden is very small, just a couple of roads. The main road through the village and a loop off it
Have a look at Google Street View near Bakers Arms pub
Broad Campden - always was my mother's favourite village. She would ask to be taken over and just sit in the car there, towards the end.
Less than 2 miles from Broad Campden is Northwick Park. It was used as an American field hospital during WW2 and after the war the huts were used to house displaced Poles.
The huts are still there and it is now used as an industrial estate. You can drive around it on a one way road and pass a memorial to its former residents
There is a Polish section in the cemetery near the Catholic church in Chipping Campden
another place full of thatch and great views is several miles away, at Long Compton (note the "o" instead of the "a").
