Thank you to isn31c, Nigel and other kind souls!

Who are so generous in taking their time to post about any transportation ( and other) changes that occur in this region that could potentially affect the travel plans of people who read this site - and who are total strangers to them! I just had to take a minute to say how appreciative I am. Kindness and humanity on display full stop.

Yes!!!! We really are so fortunate to have the wisdom and help from the posters here. Nigel is another one who is so generous with his train knowledge. And tons of others too. It really is amazing how many people are willing to spend their valuable time helping others. For FREE!!! It it so appreciated!!!!! 😊

And it’s like this on all the other country specific forums too. It really is comforting knowing that help is available.

Agree with all the above, but would also like to chime in thanks to Acraven, who sometimes amazes me with the amount of information she is willing to share ( or type) and also Lola, Pam, Jane and Laurel. I have grown such big travel wings from this forum and being on the forum has now become another hobby of mine! Thank you to all who are so generous and kind!

Many thanks for appreciating the help that we give. I have thought of giving up when having written something that has taken a bit of my time, some people don’t even bother to come back and acknowledge that they have even returned, let alone given some thanks.

I also thank you all in advance. I'm lurking here and trying to learn. I'll be going to the UK in August and likely it'll be my turn soon to show up here in a panic about the strikes. 😕

I wholeheartedly agree! James has given us so much info for ideas off some of the main paths in the UK & Wales. Others like isn31c have helped with train info. I really appreciate the willingness to help others have a pleasant time visiting their country! I know by giving specific names that I’m forgetting some others by name who have answered my questions - all were appreciated!

And also a thank you to travelers who post their trip reports! Those bring out new ideas or help eliminate something we might have been considering.

@Nigel, oh yes, our dear Zoe! I still have her posts bookmarked. She was so helpful with advice for smaller cities in Italy! I still remember her comment when I was going to be taking my first solo trip in Italy and thinking about having dinner without my husband there, “Italy wants to feed you!” ; ) Still makes me smile.

What a nice post! And gratitude to Roberto and Dario…Roberto doesn’t know that we would probably still be going around a traffic circle in Firenze in our rental car…trying to avoid the dreaded ZTL zone…without his advice! So many kind folks with such wonderful thoughts and ideas!

I would like to add my thanks to Nigel. His reports last year on the train strikes allowed me to plan ahead and get coach tickets to avoid a real travel headache.
Cheers!!

I start every trip pretty confident that I know what's out there to see because of the years of wisdom to be found here. Not to mention the detailed information about how to handle things like the trains.

And the pointers to other useful websites have been extremely helpful as well.

I gain as much as I give, particularly about places I don't know well in Continental Europe, and especially from some of the more reflective threads- the ones which are not fact based. I think those involved in it know of one particular thread which has been enormously helpful to me, mentally.

Yes, thank you to every one who takes the time to respond, and to those who provide some food for thought and some much needed levity. You are appreciated!!!
And a shout out to Andrea who every month takes the time to put together an international zoom so we can meet and share and talk travel! All are welcome to join.

Last year my husband and I took a COVID delayed trip, spending five weeks in England and Wales. Two family crises have prevented me from writing a trip report, but I want to express my thanks to the many U.K. experts who helped me plan a wonderful trip--Nigel, Jennifer in Tunbridge Wells, ianandjulie, wasleys, and Richard (who provided great info on giffgaff). Also Claudia for her many posts on London. I couldn't have planned it without you.

Barbara, thanks for the shout out for our International Travel Group. It’s my pleasure. It started in July 2020 because I subscribed to Zoom for our local Sacramento travel group since we couldn’t meet in person due to Covid. Those days are over, but I enjoy the interaction with people from many places and it has been wonderful to meet some of you in person. It’s always interesting.

I also want to thank NIgel and other regular posters on the England forum. Your tips have been most helpful. I was worried about the strike at Heathrow, but Nigel's post reassured me that we will be okay when we fly into Heathrow this week. Nigel is always so kind in responding to questions so I appreciate him and others very much.
