Thames River Cruise Strike (City Cruises)

Just heard about another strike.....
Besides the tube strike here comes another strike. Our plan was to cruise the Thames September 4th or 5th. Now my itinerary is a big mess! Looks like we will be taking it day by day. Hoping I can fit in a cruise on the Thames another day. Thought I'd post this for others with similar plans.

CITY CRUISES BOAT OPERATORS STRIKE

On Thursday 27th August, Friday 4th September and Saturday 5th September the boat operators at City Cruises will be on strike and there will be no service on these days. We strongly suggest that you try to plan to use the Thames River Cruise on other days.

According to my Rick Steves Great Britain book, there are three other companies that operate cruises: Thames River Cruises, Circular Cruises and the London Duck. Of course, they'll probably be more crowded those days but it's worth looking into.

That's unfortunate, and news to me, perhaps because they are not part of the TfL fleet.

City Cruises mostly do value added cruises.

Luckily, if you want to see London from the river there are a number of alternatives.

Many of the river boats are offering a 2 for one, or percentage off deal in September as part of the September Totally Thames festival.

I've just received a statement from the RMT Union that this strike for today has been suspended but there is still a threat of action on 4th and 5th of September between 0700-2000 if everything is not resolved by then.
