Tour books dont really talk much about boat trips on the Thames. Say say they go from here to there. If youve done the tourist type trips, short or longer ones what did you think? Wondering if the commentary was good, trip relaxing and so on.
We enjoy riding the Thames Clipper commuter boats ( no commentary) when we have a long ride, such as coming back from Greenwich. They cost more than the Tube but it is worth it for the sightseeing.
I see they are having a special Oyster cruise on June 13.
hey chicago
ckeck out jason.co.uk for a canal ride up the canal or thames rockets
don't know if this is what you want but worth a look out.

Maybe https://www.londontoolkit.com//whattodo/city_cruises.htm is what you are interested in. I have only tried it as an extra on the HOHO bus, going from Tower to Westminster, but it seemed good to me. The commentary made us turn our heads all the time to look at what they told about, so I would not call it relaxing.
If you're going a relatively long way in the London metro area, say from London to Greenwich or Kew Gardens, you can take the boat going for the views and then take rail/Tube back to save time. If your boat is going downriver, say from London to Greenwich, it will take less time than the same trip going upriver.
