Given the webmasters request for a kinder gentler demeanor from participants, dare I ask if the title was typed while driving on a bumpy road ...?
Lol, I've been given new glasses!
not beer glasses, then?
Fortunately I've not yet reached the stage of suffering beer glasses at 08:35 am.
good article though
JC, are you really trying to make me spend all my European vacations in the UK?

The ironic thing is Cara, that with the exception of the Jurassic Coast route, which was done by car, I haven't undertaken any of these journeys by public transport.
It has inspired me however to consider the application for a Friends and Family Railcard from overseas. Today I booked three train tickets from Havant to Gatwick airport (an average 1 hour drive) for one adult and two children next Friday afternoon for £8.00. A few weks ago my youngest's ticket from Havant to Glasgow was £16 and two child fares to York were £5 each. Currently you require a UK adress to apply for such a card (which costs £30 but if you intend on lots of train travel could easily recoup the cost). There is now an option for a digital one which should negate the requirement for a UK address, I'm awaiting a reply to establish whether an application can be made from abroad prior to arival in the uk.
JC - Brits who shop at Tesco can get the Railcards via the Tesco Clubcard site for only £10 instead of £30 via the railways.

Thanks James, is that by trading in vouchers? I can get the railcard for £15 via my police association so my clubcard vouchers have more value when used for the extortionate IOW ferry tickets.
I've just received a response regarding the digital railcard query and the reply was that a UK billing address is required if paying for a digital card by credit or debit card. This is a shame because it could save quite a bit of money for those families opting to travel by rail and would be so convenient if they could pay for and download the app prior to their arrival in the UK.
