Temperatures in first week of Sept and hotels in London

Got some great advice in the France forum so thought would jump over here and ask about London Hotels. Currently we have a hotel booked at Heathrow airport on a Friday night for our return flight to US on Sat morning at 9 am. Many suggested we spend our one night in London (been there before) instead of at the airport, which I can understand. We looked at hotels around Paddington and considered the HEX for the journey back to Heathrow although the 15 minute walk from the station to T2 seems less than appealing. Then we decided on a car service or perhaps taxi - thinking a 5 am departure would get us there in time.

We are looking at the Darlington Hotel by Paddington. Looks nice, although the reviews I have read from the past several weeks say how hot it was in the rooms with no AC and were provided a fan. While I could get by with this, not sure my friend who is a first time traveler overseas could handle it.

While no one can predict the weather, typically what is it like early Sept.? Any other hotel suggestions? Our budget would be around 225 bp for a triple room - the Darlington Hyde Park's Family room had a twin in one little room connected to a double which gave us some privacy space. Look forward to your suggestions. Thank you!

It isn't 15 minutes walk from HEX to Terminal 2.

I can see however that you might have been confused by the following on the HEX site:

"How do I get to Terminal 2?
"For Terminal 2, you will need to exit the Heathrow Express at the first stop and follow the airport signs (journey time 15 minutes)."

The 15 minutes here is the time from Paddington to Heathrow, not the time from the station at Heathrow to T2.

The longest walks at T2 are after security to the satellites as unlike T5 there is no transit provided.

It varies immensely. The short answer, especially this year, is - Nobody Knows.

I ran up to London for a special lunch last week and was absolutely roasting in the absolute sunshine and 27 degree temperature. Today it is, in the East Midlands where I am, 21 and high winds with occasional sideways rain.

Generally it has been my impression that whilst September has shorter days and cooler nights the days can be nicer than in August especially if the rain gods have been particularly generous in August.

So - nobody knows. Unlikely it will be hot but it could be. Unlikely it will be cold, but it could be. After all a week or so ago there was snow in August in Scotland.
