The Japanese tea ceremony (known as sadō/chadō (茶道, 'The Way of Tea') or chanoyu (茶の湯) lit. 'Hot water for tea') is a Japanese cultural activity involving the ceremonial preparation and presentation of matcha (抹茶), powdered green tea, the procedure of which is called temae (点前).[1]

In the 1500s, Sen no Rikyū revolutionized Japanese tea culture, essentially perfecting what is now known as the Japanese tea ceremony and elevating it to the status of an art form.
Loved the article and I love cream teas especially. I recently was in Washington, D.C. for a decade birthday and treated my sister and I to afternoon tea at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel. It was divine from start to finish. We felt so wanted as they had separate vegetarian and vegan menus for us so we didn't have to go without any of the delicious options..
I'm also partial to cream teas and I also like tea and crumpets. Thanks for posting the article.
