I would do a search on this forum for “afternoon tea London “, as there are probably dozens of post recommending various afternoon teas. You’ll get some responses here but you’ll get many more if you search for other threads on the subject.

Are you wanting the long, drawn out meal replacement tea with sweets and sandwiches? Or a relaxed, but shorter cream tee with scones & jam?

How much time and £££ do you want to spend?

Look for the vlogger Hannah Ricketts on Youtube, she (generally with her sister) has been to a LOT of teas in London. You'll get a sense of what you get for your money.

FWIW, she was just at the Dorchester and IIRC tea was 150 pounds.

My daughters and I had afternoon tea at Fortnum and Mason and enjoyed it very much.

And I agree with Phred. Check out Hannah Ricketts on youtube. She has a LOT of afternoon tea videos. (And a lot of other great videos of London)

Afternoon tea is something I don't mind splurging on because, to me, it is an experience and I'm planning to be there awhile. in London, I have done tea at Fortnum and Mason, The Orangery at Kensington Palace, the InterContinental Park Lane, and Claridge's. All have been fantastic and different from each other. H

My favorite has been Claridge's. My boyfriend and I had two rounds of sandwiches before moving onto the scones and desserts. Definitely got my money's worth there! I will say the desserts at the InterContinental Park Lane were the prettiest I have had, it was all you can drink champagne along with the tea (a perfect way to end my trip!), and I got a tin of tea as a parting gift.

If money is not an issue, Fortnum and Mason because you can dress in business casual. When we were there a pianist added to the ambience. If you get their savory tea, it can be your dinner. Wolseley is nice and has excellent staff.

We had many folks on this forum recommend The Wolseley and it did not disappoint. Reservations can be made online easily. They have a Cream Tea - scones and teas- for £19.50 pp, Classic Afternoon Tea - finger sandwiches (they were so incredibly good!), scones and teas for £46.50 pp and the Champagne Afternoon Tea for £59.50 pp.

Lovely setting. Delightful service. We were dressed casually and felt completely at home.
