Taxi from Bristol airport to Bath

How much is a taxi from Bristol airport to a hotel in Bath for 2 people? Is Uber cheaper and can you get an Uber without advance purchase at the airport?

My daughter had to get a cab late at night after a delayed flight and it was over £100. Ubers etc should be about £50.
There is a bus at normal times.

It's really not too long a distance to rule out a private car service. It will cost a little more, but we think it is well worth it.

We used a private car service based in Bath to go from there to the Bristol airport and were very pleased. I don't remember the cost, but it was reasonable. The service we used was Chauffeur Travel, and the web site is https://chauffeurtravel.co.uk/

Send them an email explaining your needs and ask for a quote. Can't hurt to ask.

Yes you can get a Uber very easily at Bristol airport. There is a new transport interchange. What I do is go into the transport hub building (where you will find an M&S Simply Food store) and call an Uber from there. The drop off/pick up area is right on the other side. Ubers wait nearby and come very quickly. I think it will be at least £50. It’s £35 to my house which is a lot closer than Bath.

This is from our trip in 2024. We took an Uber from our Bristol hotel to our hotel in Bath and it cost £27. I checked my Uber app history for accuracy.

The airport is further from Bath than Bristol city centre is, plus there is an additional £8.50 charge for picking up at the airport. This is applied to every car using the drop off and pick up area, whether they’re a taxi or not.

Thank you, everybody, for such good information.

Can anyone recommend a particular local driver with a car for day tours? Or a small touring group company?

People on this forum have recommended MadMaxTours.

Also note that you can travel by train to Salisbury and take the shuttle bus to Stonehenge and then take a look around Salisbury with its wonderful cathedral before returning to Bath. https://www.thestonehengetour.info/bus-timetable/

Going in the other direction, *Cardiff is just over an hour away by train with direct services hourly - though a day trip does not give you enough time to see everything in the Cardiff area. https://www.visitwales.com/destinations/south-wales/cardiff
*Not advised 23 May to 8 June 2026 as Severn Tunnel is closed and people will have the inconvenience of being bused over to south Wales. (London to south Wales trains will go via Gloucester).

Bristol is just a 15 minute train ride from Bath. https://visitbristol.co.uk

One man's meat is another man's poison. I have to travel from Bridgend in South Wales to Carlisle on the first day of those works, nothing train wise is booked yet.
My plan was to connect into the 0852 dining car train from Cardiff to Manchester, for my Welsh breakfast (hadn't even thought of any other route), then lunch in the dining car between Manchester and Carlisle.

However seeing these works I'm actually tempted to re-route by some route via Bristol to take advantage of the unusual opportunity those RRB's present (especially the all stations ones)- via London, Birmingham or back to Hereford via Worcester for lunch on the later train to Manchester.

The way I'm ticketing the price is exactly the same whichever way I route- about £69.
